80 thousand of Iranian population is affected by MS
The president of Iranian Neuroscience Association pointed out, vitamin D deficiency, changes in the climate and genetics are effective in the development of MS, he also said:” 80 thousand people in Iran are suffering from this disease.”
Hosein Pakdaman stated at the Neurology and Clinical Electrophysiology international congress: ”Unfortunately, MS is so common in the country, unlike geographical classification that the prevalence should be utmost 3000, now it’s 80000 in Iran.
MS is the most common physical and mental disability among young people, especially in women. Besides, it affects individuals between 20 to 40 years old.

Stated that there are 14 types of drug treatments of MS in the country, he said the latest diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are offered in Iran as well.
Pakdaman noted: “Esfahan and Tehran have the highest rate of MS because of genetics, changes in the climate and Vitamin D deficiency.
